Experimental Narrative

Experimental Narrative or we call it an "Avant-garde" cinema.

It is a mode of filmmaking that rigorously re-evaluates cinematic conventions It describes a range of filmmaking styles that are generally quite different from, and often opposed to, the practices of mainstream commercial and documentary filmmaking. It is often characterised by the absence of linear narrative, the use of various abstracting techniques—out-of-focus, painting or scratching on film, rapid editing—the use of the Non-diegetic sound or even the absence of any soundtrack.

However, the Experimental film gives filmmakers more freedom to explore a wider range of possibilities of film techniques with the choice of employing a narrative or not at all.

There are 2 types of the Experimental Film
  • Abstract Form

  • Associational Form
